Compassionate, Evidence-Based ABA Therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is an evidence-based practice rooted in the science of learning and motivation. This approach drives meaningful change by assessing, observing, designing, implementing, and evaluating environmental factors that influence behavior.

ABA therapy is highly effective in teaching essential developmental skills, including:

  • Language and communication

  • Daily living skills

  • Social interaction

  • Self-management

In addition to skill-building, ABA therapy is a proven method for understanding and reducing challenging behaviors by identifying the patterns and functions of behavior and implementing targeted interventions.

Our approach to ABA therapy doesn’t just focus on the individual—it involves the entire family. Caregivers, siblings, grandparents, and school staff are trained on ABA techniques to help generalize and maintain progress long after therapy sessions end.

Why Choose Sankofa for ABA Therapy?

Our ABA programs are supervised by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) who specialize in developing individualized treatment plans to support each client's unique strengths and needs. Our therapy approach empowers Autistic clients and individuals with behavioral challenges to thrive.

What to Expect:

  1. Initial Assessment: After an in-depth parent interview and intake assessment, the BCBA will determine medical necessity and recommend the appropriate number of therapy hours per week.

  2. Skill Acquisition Goals: We collaborate with families to create developmentally appropriate goals that align with the client's needs and aspirations.

  3. Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP): A customized BIP is developed to reduce non-functional behaviors and increase adaptive, functional behaviors.

  4. Ongoing Data Collection and Analysis: Continuous data collection helps us track progress and make data-driven adjustments to therapy plans.

  5. Parent and Caregiver Training: Regular training ensures families feel confident reinforcing skills learned during one-on-one therapy sessions.

  6. Adaptable Teaching Methods: We use a variety of research-backed teaching approaches, including:

    • Behavior Skills Training (BST)

    • Natural Environment Teaching (NET)

    • Discrete Trial Training (DTT)

    • Pivotal Response Training (PRT)

Key Program Details:

  • Age Range: 18 months to 21 years

  • Starting Hours: Minimum of 10 hours per week of 1:1 intervention
